Netsuke made with Chichibu-Meisen silk and Shijimi shells.
The small, rounded shijimi shells gently highlight the beautiful luster of Chichibu-Meisen fabric.
Chichibu-Meisen is a traditional silk textile from the Chichibu region in western Saitama, Japan.
It became extremely popular from the Taishō era to the early Shōwa period (early 20th century).
Chichibu-Meisen is woven after the silk threads are dyed, creating its distinctive texture.
This unique technique has been preserved for over 100 years and is officially recognized as a Traditional Craft of Japan.
Netsuke are traditional Japanese ornaments that became popular during the Edo period. Today, they are often used as keychains, bag charms, or small decorative accessories.
Wrapping shells with cloth is a simple folk craft that has long been practiced in Japan.
These small accessories bring a touch of Japanese tradition to everyday life, using natural shells once used for soup stock and small pieces of fabric.
Please note:
・Because each item is handmade, the fabric pattern will vary.
