木版染めで制作した、和同開珎柄のポーチです。
古銭「和同開珎」を、カラフルに染め、楽しい雰囲気に仕上げました。

和同開珎は飛鳥時代に作られた、日本で初めて広く流通した貨幣といわれています。
武蔵国秩父郡（現在の埼玉県秩父市黒谷）で純度の高い銅が産出し朝廷に献上されたことを祝い、元号が「和同」と改められたと伝えられています。そして唐の「開元通宝」を手本に、和同開珎が鋳造されたといわれています。
銅が採掘された場所の近くには、現在も銭神様として親しまれている聖神社と、和同開珎のモニュメントがあります。

このポーチは、手彫りで制作した木製スタンプを使い、一つ一つ布に捺印してから型染めで色を重ねて仕上げています。
古銭の鋳造ならではの、わずかな線のゆがみも大切に再現しました。ポップな色使いの中に、日本の歴史を感じられる一品です。

木版染めの歴史は古く、紀元前のインドに起源を持ち、世界各地へ広まったといわれています。現在でもインドでは、伝統的な染色技法として盛んに行われています。

素材には、環境に配慮した無漂白コットンを使用しています。
紙幣や通帳を入れるのに使いやすいサイズで、裏地には金運に良いとされる黄色の布を合わせました。
日常使いにはもちろん、お土産や贈り物にもおすすめです。

This pouch features a colorful pattern inspired by Wado-Kaichin, one of the earliest coins widely circulated in Japan.

According to historical records, high-quality copper was discovered in Chichibu in 8th century, Wado-Kaichin coins were minted .

Near the original copper mining site in Chichibu, you can still find Hijiri Shrine, affectionately known as a shrine of good fortune for money, as well as monuments dedicated to the Wado-Kaichin coin.

Each pouch is individually printed using a hand-carved wooden stamp, then dyed using a traditional stencil-dyeing process. The slight irregularities in the lines intentionally recreate the natural character of cast ancient coins. With its bright colors and historical motif, this piece combines a playful design with a touch of Japanese history.

Woodblock dyeing has a long history, believed to have originated in India before spreading throughout the world. The technique is still practiced today as a traditional textile craft.

The fabric is made from environmentally friendly unbleached cotton.
The size is convenient for carrying bills, and the lining is yellow—a color traditionally associated with prosperity and good fortune by Feng Shui
